Mandala thangkas

A Mandala is a harmonious arrangement around a central point, a symbol of harmony and integration. Often with particular Buddhist figure central. They often have a circle of flames, lotuses and vajras ( diamond thunderbolts ). They are particularly detailed and beautiful and as such are often very useful aids for meditation. Mandala literally means circle but in a Buddhist context it is a circle of deeply symbolic forms and is a universal human symbol, as seen in Navaho indian paintings.
