Amitayus statues (rupas)

Amitayus is a Buddha in Bodhisattva form and is associated with long-life along with White tara and Ushnishnavijaya. They often appear together in Tibetan thangkas especially White Tara thangkas. Amitayus means ‘infinite life’ and his mantra is ‘om amarani jivantaye svaha’ . He is closely related to Amitabha, ‘infinite light’. He is part of the Padma ( lotus) family and holds the kalasa , long life vase, in meditation posture. He is associated with kindness, openness and receptivity.
