Wrathful deities are powerful figures from Tantric (Vajrayana) Buddhism, symbolising the transformation of destructive energies and emotions into the powerful and creative energies of Wisdom  (Prajna) and Compassion (Karuna). There are many such forms Vajrakilaya, Mahakala, Yamantaka, Yama Raja, Simha Mukha, Ekajati, Chakrasamvara. They are often wreathed in skulls showing their fearlessness and mastery of death as they dance in the fires of change.
