Bodhisattva of WisdomManjusri is the Bodhisattva of wisdom, the radiance of enlightened awareness and understanding, and he holds the sword (khagda) cutting through ignorance and copies of the perfection of wisdom. He is known as Jampal in Tibetan and his mantra is om a ra pa ca na dhih. Also known as Manjughosha (sweet and gentle voiced) and Vagisvara (Lord of Speech). he is a central figure in Mahayana Buddhism and appears in the Vimalakirti Nirdesa sutra and a number of other texts.
He is told to have taught on Mt Wu Tai shan in China and to have helped create to Kathmandu valley in Nepal with his sword!
